Francis Maxwell LLP was formed on 1st January 2001. Having both busy working life’s and a young family, the primary reason for Paul and Lana to form their own practice was in the hope of improving their work life balance. Which it did.
The business was initially located in the market square in Alton where we shared space above a photographers studio. It didn’t take long before we took over the whole upstairs area and then eventually the whole building. In 2008 we out grew the property completely and moved to newly renovated offices in Alton High Street. In 2013 we were joined in the practice by Kevin Lee, rebranding to LFM and together we then moved to our current location.
Kevin Lee FCA
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 and have spent 30 years advising businesses of all size, both Corporate and individuals, on Accounting, Audit, Tax and advisory matters. Clients are both Entrepreneurial and International businesses.
I am a qualified Audit Responsible Individual. I enjoy working with all business, but particularly faster growth and looking for Capital and Income maximisation. I have acted on many successful client disposals, as well as MBO’S and Acquisitions. Where not audit compromised, I like to work closely with the owners or board of Directors, in a Finance Director or quasi FD role.
In my spare time, I enjoy a round of golf, occasional tennis, cycling and plenty of walking the Dog, who also enjoys life in the office.
Matthew Ellis FCCA
I joined LFM (formerly Francis Maxwell) straight from University and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2007.
Relocating to South West London, I joined a Top 15 Firm of Accountants where I managed a diverse portfolio of clients. I was involved in the audit of International Businesses, advising clients on exit strategies and was also seconded to the Channel Islands for a 3 month period.
I had a spell out of practice and worked in industry as Head of Finance for luxury brand Diptyque. This gave me a more detailed knowledge of monthly reporting to Group level and being able to put myself in the mind set of “the client”.
I returned to LFM in 2014, which had grown considerably in the 6 years that I had been gone.
I particularly enjoy being involved in new start-ups and entrepreneurial business, providing a range of advice including tax planning and business advice.
I enjoy spending my spare time with my wife and our daughter Violet.
Matt Doyle FCCA
I went in to the profession straight from college, I obtained my ACCA qualification in 2010.
I joined LFM in 2008 and I became an associate in 2013, I manage my own portfolio of clients but still work closely with existing clients managing their accounts, tax and auditing requirements.
I have experience with a broad variety of clients, all shapes and sizes. I also enjoy providing hands on business advice and wealth maximisation planning.
In my spare time I like to watch sports and keep active with regular visits to the gym. I am also very keen on photography and motor racing and I try to get out to watch as many events as possible.
PAUL FRANCIS FCCA
I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1992 and became self-employed in practice in 1995.
As well as being an accountant I have always had an interest in business generally and now have involvement in a number of other businesses. Property has always been a passion of mine and having been involved in property development for some years and having also built up my own property portfolio, I like to keep myself up to date with the latest tax efficient opportunities in this area. Needless to say I then proactively pass these opportunities onto relevant clients.
Apart from enjoying time with Lana and our children Tiana and Kyle I also play a bit of squash and like keeping fit with regular visits to Energique Health Club & Spa in Alton.
Lana Francis FCCA
I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997 and I have worked in practice for over 25 years. My main focus is Accounts, Personal Tax and Corporate Tax for small businesses.
I am also involved in developing new methods of utilising technology to its fullest extent to improve efficiency and to make our clients lives easier. Our business has been paperless since 2009 and we now offer an online system for electronic approval of documents. This speeds up the compliance process and reduces our carbon footprint.
Our business has grown substantially over the years, mainly because our client base has stayed with us and helped us to grow. Our business focus has always been to offer our clients a personal service that is interested in your business and to seek ways in which you can thrive and achieve your objectives.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with Paul and our family and walking the “office” dog Toffee who normally sleeps under my desk. I enjoy a sporting challenge, particularly if it involves travelling which is another passion of mine.
